Preview of some promo shots

I did a photo shoot this morning, with photographer Wong Horngyih and acting art director Janet Lee, who graciously allowed us to use her place as the picture backdrop.

Here are some photos from Janet’s iPhone. Once the real professional pictures are out I will post some of them out for you to see. For the mean time, here is a preview of what we were doing.

Gig updates – Dec 2013

Hi all,

December is right around the corner, and I gotta say….2013 is passing by like a flash! Where did the time go???

Anyway, I was expecting December to be a rather quiet month, but it seems that may not be the case. I’ve been getting some gig bookings along the way, and I’d like to share them with you. If you can make it for some of it, your presence would be much appreciated! So here goes:

7/12 Sonor Day with SONOR artiste Martin Ngim (details forthcoming)

9/12 (Mon) Janet Lee & WVC Trio+1 “Cabaret and Shanghai Jazz” – Live at No Black Tie.

13/12 (Fri) Jazz Jam Session in UPM Music Dept, with WVC Trio+1

17/12 (Tue) WVC Trio+1 – Live at No Black Tie

19/12 (Thu) WVC Trio+1 and Janet Lee – Live at Geographer’s Cafe, Melaka

28/12 (Sat) Jeff Chang Tour Concert in Nanjing, CHINA.

It’s going to be a fun end of the year, and there will be a lot more interesting stuff that will happen next year as well. I’m looking forward to it.

Hope to see you at some of the shows!

Thanks for following.

Busy second half of April!

As I’ve just finished with classes for the UCSI School of Music semester (and what a time squeeze effort it was, juggling it with the touring and everything else), the next thing in order is continuing with the Jeff Chang Tour in China, and back again to KL for a few shows with WVC Trio +1 and a few awesome singers.

Later today (Thursday, 18 April), I’ll be flying off to Nanchang, a city southeast of China, for the next edition of Jeff Chang’s tour. We were supposed to be in Cixi City (three hours drive from Shanghai) last weekend, but the concert got postponed due to the H7N9 avian flu. I hope it’s not spreading to where we are! We will be there from Thursday through Sunday, where we will fly back to KL again.

On Monday, I’ll be heading down to Melaka to join WVC Trio to play in Geographer’s Cafe, and featuring Melaka local stalwart, Nadia. On the 25th (Thu), we’ll be heading down to Melaka again to perform at the Hospice Malaysia fundraiser concert event. This time this concert will feature WVC Trio +1, Winnie Ho and jazz evangelist Junji Delfino!

And on the 26th and 27th weekend, we will be performing with Shanghai Jazz exponent, Janet Lee, in “Shanghai Jazz Redefined” at Alexis Bistro and WIne Bar, in Great Eastern Mall Ampang.

What a busy second half of the month ahead! Times like this I reminded again why I love playing music. 🙂

Till the next update! Have a great week ahead everyone.

Shows in April 2013!

March was just CRAZY!

I couldn’t be more grateful for a busy and productive time, like I’ve had in March 2013. To make a day count, I was only in the country for 13 days the entire month of March. Could’ve been less if it wasn’t for the fact that March this year had five weekends. I was in Singapore for almost half the month and practically just over a week in China. While I was back in KL, however, I was also teaching almost everyday I was back, replacing some classes in UCSI and also slotting in a few private students. Nothing like a busy schedule to start off the year.

Anyway, on to April! I can’t believe it’s already April. To quote some old Chinese (or Cantonese, perhaps?) saying: give it a few winks, and the next thing we know, half the year is gone. Time really flies. I don’t really know if it’s because of me getting…eh hem…older (or more mature, like some would say), or the space time continuum is changing and moving faster? Either way, the show must go on. So here’s a brief list of shows I’ll be doing this month, please check out my Performance calendar page for a full listing:

5/4 (Fri) – The Julian Chan New Quartet featuring Cheryl Tan @ The Jazz Room, Moon Bar (Plaza Damansara)

13/4 (Sat) – Jeff Chang World Tour @ Cixi City CHINA (postponed due to reports of Avian flu)

20/4 (Sat) – Jeff Chang World Tour @ Nanchang CHINA

22/4 (Mon) – WVC Trio +1 featuring Nadia @ Geographer’s Cafe, Melaka

25/4 (Thu) – WVC Trio +1, Junji Delfino and Winnie Ho @ Souled Out, fundraiser concert for Hospice Melaka, Hotel Equatorial Melaka

26-27/4 (Fri & Sat) – Janet Lee, Shanghai Nights Redefined (w/ WVC Trio+1) @ Alexis Bistro and Wine Bar

27/4 (Sat) – JC Saxophone Quartet (tbc)

That’s all for now folks. More updates on the way as it comes by, so do stay tuned!
